Description
One of the most prestigious and special luxury cuvees to emerge from this fabled village, Clos du Mont Olivet’s “Cuvee du Papet” (“Granddaddy’s Blend”) is a totally luxurious old-vine Chateauneuf that can hang with any wine in the appellation. 2018 was a warm, dry vintage with low yields – a great combination! From the importer: “80% Grenache, 15% Mourvdre and 5% Syrah. The estates top wine, made only in the nest of vintages. A selection of fruit from the estates best-situated parcels, Montalivet, La Crau, Bois Dauphin and Pied de Baud. The oldest parcel of Grenache vines was planted in 1901. Soils are mostly sandy, with some galets rouls, or large quartz stones. Vine age 30-100+ years. Hand-harvested. Partially destemmed (60%); fermented on indigenous yeasts in cement tank. Aged 80% in older foudre, 10% in older demi-muid and 10% in older French oak barrels. Unned and unltered.”
