Description
Nuestra Soledad Miahuat Mezcal is a true gem of artisanal craftsmanship hailing from the remote and rugged terrain of Lachigu, a tranquil ranch settlement nestled precariously on the side of a steep ravine. This mezcal embodies the essence of tradition, cultivated by the Vasquez family of mezcaleros who have honed their skills and expertise over generations. Lachigu is a world apart from civilization, a tiny complex of unassuming structures that serve as the backdrop to their time-honored craft. It’s here, in this secluded haven, that the Vasquez family passionately nurtures and transforms agave into the liquid gold that is Nuestra Soledad Miahuat Mezcal.
At an astonishing elevation of 7,414 feet above sea level, Lachigu boasts the distinction of being the highest elevation palenque within the Nuestra Soledad brand, standing over 1,500 feet higher than its counterparts. The agave fields, belonging to the esteemed Tio Pedro, perch an additional 500 feet up the mountain from the palenque. These fields, seemingly defiant against the rocky and limestone-rich soil, are home to a diverse collection of agave varieties. The extreme growing conditions imposed by the elevation and terrain yield agaves of unparalleled complexity, infusing this mezcal with an elegance and nuance that beautifully balances its formidable strength.
Master mezcalero Pedro Vasquez is a true luminary in his craft, renowned for producing some of the most sought-after expressions within the El Jolgorio mezcal family, including the coveted Arroqueo, Tobal, and Tepeztate. With Nuestra Soledad Miahuat Mezcal, he shares a piece of his artistry and the untamed beauty of Lachigu with the world.
