Winemaker Description
93 Points Wine Advocate | Medium ruby-purple, the 2016 Pinot Noir Outcrop opens with broody scents of smoked meats, cracked peppercorn, garrigue and tar with blueberries, baked blackberries, potpourri, earth and red berry notes. The palate is medium-bodied with intense, spicy fruits, a grainy frame and mouthwatering acidity, finishing long and nuanced. Jason Lett says that the Outcrop and The Eyrie Pinot Noirs come from the same clones and elevation and have a similar aspect, but the main difference between the two wines is vine agethe average vine age for the Outcrop is 27 years, while average vine age for The Eyrie Pinot Noir is 47 years. (2016).
93 Points James Suckling | This has a earthier nose with a striking, red-cherry core and theres a very round, fluid feel to the palate with fleshy fruit that sits atop the evenly structured tannins. A glossier feel to the palate. Grippy, savory finish really appeals. Drink or hold. (2016).
