Description
The Highland Park Distillery was founded in 1798 and is one of the oldest and most renowned whisky distilleries in Scotland. It is located in Kirkwall on the Orkney island of Mainland, making it the most northerly distillery in Scotland. Surrounded by rugged nature and stormy seas, Highland Park’s whisky reflects the unique climatic conditions of the Orkney Islands. Today, the distillery belongs to The Edrington Group and produces around 2.5 million liters of whisky every year.
Highland Park Cask Strength Release No. 5 is bottled undiluted and straight from the cask to preserve its full intensity and depth of character. This powerful single malt matured in a carefully selected blend of different cask types. Its journey began in first-fill European oak casks that were previously filled with sherry, such as Pedro Ximenez. In addition, the whisky was matured in refill casks, ex-bourbon casks and a small amount of first-fill American oak casks, which also contained sherry. This variety of casks gives Highland Park Cask Strength No. 5 its complex aromas and impressive depth, which will delight whisky lovers.
