McConnell’s Irish Whiskey is one of Ireland’s oldest whiskey brands, and this spirit is being resurrected and brought to the US market with a 5 year old blend of malt and grain whiskey designed to mimic the original flavor of McConnell’s. With a nose of fresh-milled cereal grain and gentle green character underneath, the flavor is fairly savory while covering some of the rougher edges. Slowly, the palate opens towards a sweeter honey character and overtones of vanilla sweetness in the background. With deep oak woodiness and light char on the finish, McConnell’s Irish Whiskey is a pleasing blend for Irish whiskey drinkers on this side of the ocean.
