Varela Hermanos, S.A. is located in a town of Pese, Panama. This dates back to 1908 when Don Jose Varela Blanco, a yound Spanish immigrant decided to open the first sugar mill, San Isidro Sugar Mill in the new Republic of Panama. Pese is located in a rich and fertile valley in the center of Panama. The economy and population live off of cultivation of sugar cane. The third generation now runs Varela Hermanos, S.A. – the leading producer of distilled spirits in Panama.
It has been over a century and the family tradition and heritage continues. Ron Anuelo Anejo 12 Aos is distilled in 4 column stills. The rum is then aged in used bourbon white oak casks. A variety of rums are blended together and then it sits for 12 years. Ron Abuelo Anejo 12 Anos has a rich, full-bodied and delicate flavor of dry fruit and light oaky notes.
Ron Abuelo 12 Anos has a spicy vanilla kick which is complimented by flavors of honey and sweet caramel which gives it a lengthy and delightful finish.Ron Abuelo Anejo 12 Anos won a Double Gold Medal in 2010 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and Double Gold Medal in 2009 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
