Description
The Hengst Grand Cru vineyard, with its venerable 60-year-old vines, has long been regarded as an ideal location for cultivating Gewrztraminer. The vineyard’s unique combination of high-limestone, calcareous soils with marl, a warm and dry microclimate, and a slightly delayed growing season provides the optimal conditions for this challenging grape variety. At Zind-Humbrecht, winemaking is guided by a dedication to expressing terroir. This includes extended press cycles, minimal clarification to preserve natural yeasts and proteins, natural malolactic fermentation, and 18 months of aging on the lees in 40-year-old French barrels.

Tasting Notes:
The nose is extraordinarily complex, offering subtle floral hints, exotic fruit aromas such as lychee and mango, and layered notes of spice, smoky bacon, and toasted undertones. The palate is rich and concentrated, with balanced acidity and a touch of residual sweetness that culminates in a harmonious finish.
